Nah, the line art wasn't hard to do. For some reason, I had always wanted to draw these two that way. Mostly because they're the kind of couple that is prone to jump at each other at random.
For some reason I decided to paint it and that was when I could have lost my mind. Maybe I'm exaggerating, but my discomfort towards my coloring skills was really nagging at the back of my mind. I took this as a practice, not really expecting to go very far with it. And...I didn't. There's a first attempt and I failed miserably. Seriously. (I almost never get the coloring right in the first try. Some things I might do well, but then I fuck up and have to start over :( ).
But it turns out I really like the drawing (or maybe I was just really very bored) so I tried again. Eh, I liked it, so I scanned it, and oddly enough the scanner didn't screw up the colors, and that is a very good thing. I put the drawing away for several days, all the while thinking what I could do to improve it. Today I took up my colored pencils and trinketed around with the clothes and hair. I also did the highlights on the hair with white, unwatered down watercolor paint. I liked the result, so I slapped on some background with, you know, the sand, the sea, the sky with some bullshit clouds on it and called it a day.
Doesn't sound too bad, but I was really feeling down for not being able to color a picture at least decently. That right there is the reason I haven't posted anything in ages, so by the end of this I really wanted to finish something properly. And I like the end result, don't get me wrong. I think that at least it's a stepup from before, so I'm lining up some sketches I like to see if the watercolor/colored pencil combo is what I feel most comfortable with.
But the real kicker here is that this is just fantardism on my part 8). The guy is Takuya Kanbara, from Digimon frontier, and the girl is a fancharacter of mine. 8D They're fun to draw, stfu.
